Reality Check
Leaders: John & Claire Roth, Mark & Andrea Hera (indyhera@hotmail.com)

A brand-new group open to anyone 18 or over with the goal of healing hypocrisy in Bloomington by actively showing God’s love to those who feel they don’t deserve it and by seeking out how the Spirit of God intersects with everyday life.  We will act as Christ’s ambassadors in and around Bloomington.

Details…

“For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of words…” 1st Corinth. 4:20

Right or wrong, many people in Bloomington and in our country view Christians as hypocrites or just as angry judges of society.  And, while it may be tough to admit, this description sometimes fits.  Our group will seek to love those in and around Bloomington with the love of Jesus Christ, no questions asked.  This may look like painting an impoverished family’s house or making repairs to a struggling local business or buying lunch for someone who needs it.  Whatever the specifics look like, our actions will be done in love for the glory of Christ so that those living in and around Bloomington will know we are followers of Christ by our love.

Of equal importance to our group will be the goal to actively hear from God and respond to His voice.  To heal some of the wounds inflicted by Christians and on Christians in Bloomington, we must acknowledge that the spiritual world is real and that true healing can only come from Christ.  Therefore, about 1/3 of the time spent together in our group will be in reading God’s word together, learning from other Christ-followers and prayerfully listening for God’s leading.  By God’s grace, we will grow deeper together in Christ, seeking to release life and bring about the Kingdom of God in every aspect of our lives.

So…  Reality Check will follow the “up, in, out” model for cluster groups.  That is, one week we will spend time eating, playing, having fun together to grow in community (“in”); the next meeting one member of our group will lead us in listening for God in order that we may respond (“up”); and the third meeting we will go out into the community to show Christ’s love to the community based upon where God is leading us (“out”).  This pattern then continues from there…

We’re excited.  Hopefully this will stretch you beyond comfort in a way that is pleasing to God.  Please feel free to contact us at the above email with questions, concerns or for directions.

What: Make a Kid Smile
Where: Exodus (Boys and Girls Club)
When:  Before and after Sunday Service
Contact: Giff Reed (giffreed@gmail.com)

Exodus Church has a great opportunity to team up with the Boys and Girls Club by having our Sunday services in their gym.  Each week we need several volunteers to set up and tear down both in the gym and the kids' area.  After we tear down our classroom, we then need to reset the classrooms so the Boys and Girls Club can be ready to go on Monday.  To get on the set up team, contact Giff Reed.  This is a easy and great way to help out Exodus Children's Ministry and the Boys and Girls Club.
